Inklings

What's in a name?  My students call me Miss Kindle, so I was only too happy to call my blog this.  Last summer I went to Oxford and London, and wrote about it on another blog.  I have merged that blog here, so I can keep track of all of my travels in one place to visit again and again.

Inklings was the name of the literary group that met in Oxford between the 1930's till just about 1950. They were all men, and mostly academic scholars, including Tolkien and C.S. Lewis.
Sorry boys, I'm going to Oxford this summer, I'm discussing literature (yours) and I'm going to use your name.

So there you have it. I will be in Oxford for a week on a fellowship (not of the ring variety) discussing the works of Carroll, Tolkien, White, Lewis, Pullman, and Rowling. It should be a trip of a lifetime.
And then I will be staying one week longer because heck, I'm already there. I will be visiting our Sacred Heart School in Hammersmith, attending a Shakespeare play, seeing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, going to the revamped platform 9 3/4, and of course, visiting Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey).
I may not come back. Just warning you.
